As Drozdiak thinks back to
his days in Eugene, he says
he had no Idea his career
would eventually lead him
into working as an interna
tional correspondent, learning
French, German, some Span
ish and Arabic, and recording
history for millions of people

After freelancing from Bel
gium I was intrigued by the
career of a foreign correspon
dent.' he said "It seemed the
best way to make use of the
time I invested in traveling,
getting to know countries,
learning foreign languages
and following the political and
economic situations in those
countries "
Unlike his dangerous days
as a bachelor in the Middle
East. Drozdiak is now married
and has three children His
wife. Renilde. is a Belgian dip
lomat They have an 8-year-old
son, a 3-year-old daughter and
an infant daughter,
