KIRK BAILEY SHEILA STICKEI Dear Students, The Coming year at the University of’Oregon presents many challenges and opportunities. We face issues concerning funding of higher education, health insurance, child care, cam pus safety, and the diver sity of our University. The ASUO.as the representa tive of the students, seeks to promote student inter ests and needs, through its programs, activities, and services. As current mem bers of the ASUO Execu tive. we have addressed these issues and learned the power and influence students can have on any issue. In addition, our in volvement in groups such as Club Sports, the Pre Law Society, Housing and various University task forces has provided a clear understand ing of the needs of the stu dents. This experience has made us sensitive to student interests and provided the tools to direct the influence of the ASUO for the benefit of all students. We believe the stu dents deserve leaders who are strong, confident and knowledgeable, with the students’ best interests at heart. The Bailey/Stickel team proposes to achieve this ideal through a bal anced approach, dedicated to promoting campus unity through tolerance and re spect. Our efforts are aimed at working for the students to insure their rights as free paying members of the ASUO. Our campaign for the students will not end on election day but continue throughout the coming year. Above all else we believe that student involve ment is crucial to effective student government. We urge everyone to approach us with their questions and concerns, and start their involvement by voting on April 19 & 20.
