    prevention services, and two
.5 FTE staff counselors to
help reduce the waiting list.
The total fee will continue to
be assessed on year-to-year
basisunder the supervision
of a joint student-faculty

Measure #9
Do you support additional
funding of $42,406 for the
EMU ChildCare and Devel
opment Centers, primarily to
paystate-mandatedwage
increases for classified and
student teaching staff and so
maintain the program's
current level of service?
Passage of this proposal will
raise Incidental Fee funding
for the EMU Child Care by
approximately .80 cents per
student, per ter m< from
approximately $2.00 per
student, per term, to ap
proximately $2.80 per stu
dent, per term), and so
provide this program a total
of $148,421 of Incidental Fee
support annually in 1990-91.
this level of Incidental Fee
funding would cover 30per
cent of the projected EMU
Child Care program ex
penses. Parent fees would
pay 62 percent of the pro
gram costs, and USDA meal
grants would make up the
remaining 8 percent.
A personal note from the
Elections Board:
This year’s elections
are sure to be exciting and
informative. It is our deep
est hope that everyone will
get involved in the process, a
process that carries with it
an opportunity to use the
power which we have as
students at the University of
Oregon. That power is the
power to vote. This campus
is said to be known for its
political awareness; how
ever, in past elections, the
voter turnout has been very
low. Last year, approxi
mately 21% of the student
body actually showed up at
the voting booths. This is a
situation which should cause
some concern among the
student body. Only one-fifth
of the student body last year
decided who would run the
student government, what
the general policy of the
University would be, and the
amount we would pay for our
incidental fees, which ties
directly into our tuition. In
this year’s election, the
student body will again be
asked to make some very
crucial decisions, so please,
inform yourself and exercise
the control you have over the
things that aftect you. Use
your STUDENT POWER
and VOTE
Sincerely,
Mark Morse
