Fun abounds in Disney's 'Shrunk'

Whoever said Walt Disney Pictures doesn't
make fun summer flicks like they used to defi
nitely hasn't seen Honey, I Shrunk The Kids
Starring Kick Moranis. Honey. I Shrunk The
Kids is Disney's latest and probably most success
ful summer fun flick in the last few years.
Unlike many recent Disney movies, Shrunk
transports audiences bark to the era when come

dy and good, clean family fun was one. And fun
it is
Unfortunately, many who remember the
good, old Disney movies may not consider watch
ing this movie Why? Possibly because past expe
riences have made many steer away from them,
but mainly because the movie, sad hut true, is l>e
ing promoted .is a kids' show. Hut is it?
Not really The movie may be great for kids
but it also will entice the older-than-average
i rowd Moranis plays the absent-minded profes
sor Wayne Stvlinski, who amazed audiences with
Ins innovative inventions. On the other hand, his
neighbor, ex-high si bool football star Russell
Thompson, never fails to disgust audiences into
laughter with his egotistical humor.
However, the real fun begins after the four
kids, Amy and Nick Stylinski and Russ and Ron
Thompson, are accidentally shrunk by a fluke
baseball hit. They get swept up, thrown out in
the trash, manage to escape before the garbage
truck arrives, find themselves in the Stylinski
backyard — which has not been mowed for ages
— and begin their adventure.
The long grass blades make the garden look
like the Amazon forest, and the kids’ encounters
with larger-than-life ants, bees and scorpions
make them look like they went through a time
warp.
There are fun scenes, emotional scenes, love
sc enes and really corny scenes too But in all. the
entire shrunken adventure is well-produced and
created. Even the insects, grass, water drops,
mushrooms and LEGO toys look real!
In truth, the only feature lacking in the mov
ie is Sensurround Sensurround would have
made the movie even more intense in many parts,
but could possibly scare a few kids, or cause a
few heart attacks.
If the movie itself is not adequate to thrill
viewers, there is a bonus. Maroon Cartoon's
"Tummy Trouble" w ill not fail to bring peals of
laughter from even the worst cynic Inc luded in
the cartoon are Roger Rabbit. Veronica and the
