Just when your dorm room has become a home away form home or your apartment is just the way you like it—time to pack up all your earthly possessions and move. It’s a fact of life that you move around a lot in college. Finding housing that you can afford and lx? happy with is a process that needs to start early. Returning students have multiple options Dorms attract some people because of their conven ience and proximity to campus. Others choose to venture into the real world of rent, grocery shopping and bills. Between these two extremes are the many cooperatives, Greek houses and quads that dot the university campus neighborhood. Christy Cutting of OfT-Campus Housing, lo cated in Suite 5 of the EMU, has some tips for students beginning their search for the ultimate in student living. Cruising the various neighborhoods, reading the Register Guard and The Oregon Daily Emerald, and talking to friends, especially graduation seniors, are all ways to get your foot in the door of a good place. The off-campus bulletin board in the EMU has listings of places that are available Christy recommends start ing the search now. “It will probably be worse than last year,” she says about the housing shortage that had students combing the streets for any type of shelter they could get.
