Penny Graves and Bill Musgrave were the award winners Tuesday after noon at the annual University athletic: awards banquet held in the EMU Ballroom. Jarrett. a senior on the wres tling team, was award the Em erald Athletic Trophy, estab lished in 1951 and jointly spon sored by the University Athlet ic Department and the Oregon Daily Emerald. The award is given annually to a University student-athlete based on outstanding achieve ment in the fields of athletics, scholarship and citizenship. Jarrett. from Missoula. Mont., ranks second on Ore gon's all-time career victory list with 110. lie captured the Pa cific-10 Conference titles his freshman and senior years and qualified for the NCAA all four seasons while competing at Or egon. Jarrett finished seventh at this year's NCAA Champion ships and completed the season 31-6-1. An All-American this year. Jarrett has been a scholar ath lete (3.81 GPA) with a major in physical education and a minor in biology and chemistry at Or egon and will be; pursuing his medical degree at the Oregon Health Sciences University this coming fall. Jarrett served on the Team Council, was student director for Volunteers for Youth and served on the search committee for the Athletic Department’s Primary Women's Administra tor. In addition, he was a guest speaker at local schools and civic groups. Penny Graves was the recipi ent of the lacksnn Award given to the top female scholar-ath lete at the University. Graves, from Port Angeles, Wash., is a three-time cross country All-American and earned the same distinction three times in track. Graves was a two-time Pac-1() Champion in the 1,500 meters and had a GPA of 3.3-1 when she graduated winter term with a major in physical education. This year's Doyle Higdon Memorial Trophy went to Ore gon quarterback Bill Musgrave, who led the Ducks to a 5-0 start before suitering .t broken collar bone against Arizona State, forcing him to miss the remain der of the season. Kristiansen to compete in Pretontame EUGENE (AP) — Ingrid Kris tiansen has agreed to compete in The Prefontaine Classic on June 3, race organizers said Monday. Kristiansen, who holds world records at 5,000 meters, 10.000 meters and in the marathon, will race in the 3,000-meter race that includes hometown favorite Mary Slaney. Kristiansen, who won the Bay-to-Breakers race in San Francisco on Sunday, also won Iasi month's Boston Marathon.
