• I'enc mg equipment worth a total of $382 was
reported stolen from a c loset in (ierlinger Mall
March 7
• A chair worth $200 was taken from a lounge
in Hawthorne dorm March 10.
• t'nknown suspects did $300 damage to a
pickup truc k parked in the Bean Complex
parking lot at 15th Avenue and Moss Street,
and stole $380 worth of stereo equipment and
cassettes from the vehicle, as reported to OPS

c lothing and an umbrella was stolen from the
University Bookstore, as reported to OPS
March 10 The owner left the pat k in the cubi
cle* provided for bookstore shoppers, and re
turned a half-hour later to find it gone
In a related inc ident. another pack c ontaining
a calculator, books. kevs and an umbrella also
was stolen from the c ubicles the same day
• The Distnc t Attorney's offit e is investigating
a reported assault which occ urred in Spider
dorm March 12 The victim, escorted by a
male friend, returned to her room to find a
note from another male friend cm her lied, ask
mg her to c all.
Upon seeing the note, the male reportedly
hoc ame upset, called the victim names and be
gan physically assaulting her. She sustained
abrasions to her face and was kicked and
bruised Another resident overheard the scuf
fle and opened the door to see the suspect
pulling the victim's hair. The report, original
ly taken by OPS. has been turned over to the
DA's office for prosecution.
• The theft of a radar detector and some cas
settes from a car parked in the visitor's parking
lot was reported to OPS March 13. Kntry was
gained to the vehicle by punching the lock on
the- driver's side door, resulting in about $200
damage. The stolen contents were valued at
$255.
• A Nikon camera worth $170 was stolen from
the Longhouserat 1812 Columbia St. during a
dance for High School Equivalency Program
(HEP) students March 13 The owner of the
camera, a HEP instructor and chaperone at the
dance, left the camera in the building and re
turned two hours later to find it missing
• Four female dorm residents were observed
taking $217 5(1 worth of items from a catering
kitchen in llean Complex March 11 AH of the
items, including a case of potato chips, four
cases of beer and five Iwittles of champagne,
were recovered The DA's office is following
up on the incident
• Unknown suspects did alxiut $535 damage
to facilities at Autzen Stadium March 14 The
suspects reportedly attempted to enter the
press box. and in doing so damaged two door
locks and an elevator call panel Afterwards
the suspects damaged four concession booths
• A light pen worth $171 used to read student
IDs was stolen from the Hamilton dining hall
March 18 after a pizza party
• The theft of a videocassotte recorder valued
at $H(M) was reported to EPD March 17. The re
corder. belonging to the dance department,
was in a room with a self-locking door but was
not secured in any other way.
• EPD officers cited and released a man for
second-degree criminal mischief early in the
morning of March 18 after witnesses saw him
damage a wall phone and glass from a fire1 ex
tinguisher case in DeBusk dorm. The suspect,
who is reportedly not a student, admitted to
doing the damage, estimated at $125.
• A couch worth almost $400 was stolen from
the University Inn March 20. Several residents
reportedly saw subjects taking the couch, but
did not stop the theft.
• Burglars entered an office in PLC March 23
and stole $7,500 in computer equipment. EPD
reports the suspects punched a hole through
the office door’s window and undid the lock.
After cutting the cables securing two compu
ters. the suspects removed the equipment and
left the office, taping a laminated piece of pa
per over the hole in the window.
• In addition. OPS reports 10 bikes stolen, and
one recovered.
