Items which circulate from
the I.ibrary system are available
for loan to registered University
students, faculty and staff
members. Borrowing privileges
also extend to students at many
other state colleges, and a
Public Borrowers program is
available to community
members not affiliated with the
University.
Those who reside within the
city limits are eligible to receive
a borrower's card free from the
Eugene Public Library. The
library has more than 265,000
items.
According to Assistant City
Librarian Carol Hildebrand, a
recent survey showed that 15
percent of Eugene Public

lege students.
Though not a research
library, the public library can be
useful for further study on a
topic, or for diversion.
The library has a magazine
and newspaper center, an art
and music room, a wide selec

large fiction section as well. In
addition, two microcomputers

bane County Museum has a

Lane County Law Library,
which has 16,500 volumes.
The Eugene Register-Guard
has a library with more in
dividual items than any other
area library. Besides having a
number of maps and
audiovisual materials, it
catalogues some five million
newspaper clippings.
