The current uprisings in
the West Bank and Gaza
Strip will be the topic of a
lecture entitled "Israel: the
Diaspora of the
Palestinians."
Muslim scholar Tariq
Qurishi. the editor of Islamic
Horizon magazine and the
Al-Ittihad Journal, will speak
on the subject Thursday at 7
p.m. in the EMU Fir Room.
The lecture is sponsored
by the Muslim Student
Association.
Qurishi. a member of the
Islamic Society of North
America, will discuss the
motivations behind the cur
rent uprisings and speculate
on the consequences of the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"He is very outspoken,
and knowledgeable of the
situation,” said Ali
Alhakami of the Muslim Stu
dent Association.
'' Diapsora' ’ means
something like displace
ment, Alhakami said in ex
plaining the the lecture’s ti
tle. The lecture is to illustrate
problems that are causing the
conflict and clarify any
misconceptions about the
uprisings.
Following the lecture,
there will be an opportunity
for discussion and questions
from the audience.

Earlier in the day. Coast
Distributors, the outlet that sup

keg paraphernalia, visited
various houses that had keg
supplies on deposit to collect
beer-keg taps and tap lines.
Although some fraternity
members where expecting the
Coast Distributors personnel,
others were not.
“They came around this mor
ning and some of the guys told
them to go away,” said Lambda
Chi Alpha social chairman Brett
Baker. “But I called them back
and told them to take the taps.”
A joint meeting of the
Presidents Council will meet
next week to discuss options to
the University's new policy.
