grace, and his recovery. “He's a

The Webfoot gridders have
dropped four straight games to
fall to 4-5, 2-4 in the Pacific-10
Conference. The pre»ssure* is
squarely on Nelson's shoulders
to rekindle the? spark that had
thee entire community fireel up
just a month ago against the
Cougars (3-5, 1-5 in the Pac-10).
Nelson, inserted inter the
lineup at Arizona State last
week because starter Tony
Margain couldn't generate any
offense, responded with his Irest
game of the* year
Encumliered with so many
pads and brace*s that he said "1
felt more like a lineman than a
quarterback out there," Nelson
hit 13 of 20 passes for lt>9 yards
and one touchdown

The Civil War contest bet
ween the Oregon and Oregon

much of a battle Thursday, as
the thicks collected their se

The win gives the Ducks a
15-9 overall record. 10-6 In
the Pacific-10 Conference,
while the struggling Beavers
sink to 3-21 overall. 0-16 in
the Pac-10
From the very l>eginning of
last night’s match, the
Beavers were merely bread
crumbs for the hungry
Ducks.
In game one, a l.auri hre
jcha blot k and a kill by the
6-ft*ot-l midtile blocker gave
Oregon a 7-1 lead. The Duck*
rattled off the final six points
of the game behind the serv

win and a 1-0 match
advantage
Oregon jumped out to a 7-2
margin In the second game
before the Iteavs closet! the
gap to 11-9. Kills by Krejcha
and Monica Camp got the
Ducks track on track, as
Oregon scored the final four
points for the game
The Beavers stayed close
throughout game three, and
even led 10-9 after a Tricia
Becker service act)
Oregon fought latck. as the
