Preparing for the upcoming
women’s basketball season, the
Oregon Ducks roster has taken
on a decidedly fresh look.
Seven first-year players have
been installed for the 19H7-BH

Heiny’s formula of success.
Kntering his 12th season at
Oregon, Heiny has had 11 win
ning seasons in a row, in
cluding last year’s 23-7 record.
Gone from last season’s roster
are I,auri Landerholm. and Gabl
Neumann, two players who ac
counted for more than 40 per
cent of the Ducks offense. Carol
Drouot, who started alongside
Landerholm in the backc ourt. is
also gone, giving up her final
year due to recurring knee
problems.
Fortunately, two starters

kasperski averaged 111 points,
and ti.5 rebounds per game,
while Giidden added 8.7
points, and t>.‘) rehounds per
game. Amy Pettersen, a starter
from two years ago. is hack after
sitting out last season with a
knee injury.
The other returning players
(Michelle Kbie. him Ciguiere.

Semeniuk) are reason enough
for Heiny not to 1m- alarmed by
all the new fat es
"It's a pretty good mixture of
young and old players." Heiny
said "We have enough older
players so that leadership
shouldn't be a problem "
Heiny has been impressed by
the early season progress of the
younger players, and expects
several to have a hand in replac
ing the departed players roles
Trina McCartney, a six-foot
two inch forward from
McKinleyville. Calif., is ex

Missy Anderson and diet k have
also suffered minor injuries,
although diet k has been able to

"It's got the makings of a

the returner's are in good shape
I'm very optimistic."
