While decorating the cityscape, shelters in the downtown area provide santuary from the
rain for many LTD riders.
In addition, the buses serve
the five outlying communities
of Veneta, Coburg, the McKen
zie River Highway and all small
towns along it, the Dexter
Lowell area, the area along State
Highway 58, and Junction City,
Bergeron said.
Special programs for students
include an unlimited term pass,
which costs $44 per term, he
said. "The pass is only
available to students, faculty
and staff of the University,” he
added.
Other options include a
weekend fare, which is 30 cents
per adult rider as opposed to the
normal 65 cents charged during
the weekdays.
An adult monthly pass is
available for $20. a senior
citizen pass is available for $10.
Riders also may pay $2.50 for
five one-ride tokens. At 50 cents
per token, this is 15 cents off the
normal weekday fare,
“The system also provides
service to sports and sporting
events." Bergeron said. There
are shuttles available to both the
football and the basketball
games, he added.
"The police let us use an ex
press lane, which drops
everyone off at the front gate
and avoids traffic." he said. It is
fast and efficient, he added.
There are also three different
express routes: the ItX Express
from Springfield to Eugene, the
36 Express providing service
from the Westmoreland Student
Housing Complex to the
University, the 51X Express
providing service from the
outlying community of Santa
Clara to downtown Eugene,
Bergeron said
“Additional information
about LTD programs will be
available in the Riders Guide,
which will be sent to all
households in the Eugene
Springfield area, and becomes
effective Sept. 20.” he said.
