Art, wine festival spices up life

joyed relaxing entertainment
during the Art and the Vineyard
festival, which ran July 3-5 at
Alton Baker Park.
The festival was sponsored by
the Maude kerns Art Center and
the Kugene Rotary (dub.
In addition to paintings;
leatherwork. metalwork, pot
tery. Irntik. paper mac he and
many other arts and craft
mediums were represented.

According to Myron Redford.
proprietor of Amity Vineyards
of Oregon. "Vineyards were
sent a letter of invitation to sell
their wines by the (Art and the
Vineyard) Committee." This is
the first year Amity Vineyards
was invited.

ing. a light, fruity wine that is
enjoyable with fish or lighter
foods, and the Cabernet
Sauvignon from Hillcrest
Vineyards of Koseburg. a rich
red wine with a flavor much
like that of Bordeaux. "Cab"
goes nicely with pasta or a slice
of brie. Another winner was
Alpine Vineyard’s White
Cabernet, which is almost fruit
flavored and would make an ex
cellent before-dinner wine.
A later garden was also pro
vided by Stuart Anderson's
Resturaunt, and live entertain
ment was provided by local
rock, blues, jazz and classical
bands.
The children’s art museum
featured "New Zoo," a local
zoo featuring various animals
including a tame mountain lion
featured in the recent movie.
"Benji the Hunted.”
Highlights front upcoming
plays were provided by
Mainstage Theatre. Excerpts
were performed from "Briga
doon," and "Leader of the
Pack.’’ There was also a
children's theater, which
featured skits by clowns along
with humorous anecdotes and
singing.
Food from 15 local eateries
included Chinese. French ami
Mexican Food from such places
as Oukway Wine and Deli. Cafe
Central. Aphghani Shish
kabob. India House. Mushroom
Madness. Thai Barn and Great
Falafet.
