several years the executive coor
dinator position will be put up
for a search. Brooks said. In the
past, there has been an agree
ment between outgoing and in
coming ASUO executives not to
do a job search for the position,
which currently is held by
Susan Sowards. she added.

tee may end up filling the posi
tion with the same parson, but
this is “a technicality to prove
we have the best person in that
position.”
Brooks said she hopes to com
plete interviewing for the ex
ecutive coordinator position by
the end of )une. Interviewing
for the legal services position,
now held by attorney Karsten
Rasmussen, will take place in
mid-July. Brooks added

ecutive will tour the EMU child
care facilities later this week to
survey possible maintenance
problems. It also hopes to raise
awareness of child care issues
with the University administra
tion and faculty. Gaffney said.

When the insurance commit
tee made its carrier choice
earlier this month, its decision
was contingenet on an agree
ment with the University insur
ing student control of the pro
gram Brooks said the Universi
ty administration has not decid
ed if it will re-assume the col
lections process yet.

USSA conference held in
Madison. Wis., Aug, 7-12 have
been selected as well The three

ing with the housing depart
ment to insure that new and
returing students are able to
find off-campus housing.
The Executive also plans to
meet with Oakley Glenn, cam
pus safety director, to discuss
improving campus lighting and
controlling bicycle and
skateboard traffic: in the EMU
