I .on I.olios will return lo lilt- I-Ml Hullrooni May 27
for an H:.lO p.m. concert. I he Paladins Mill open. I he hand
is in l ugenc to promote their successful new alhuin, "Hs
I he l.i#ht Of I he Moon," which is produced hy T-Bone
Hurnetl.
When I .os l.olsos first lic#an play in# together l.t sears
ago, they were essentially a Top 40 cops hand. Since then
they hast* drawn from their rich cultural heritage lo pro
duce a distinct, new sound. I his unique cnmhinalion of
hard-core risk and roll. K\H. and Ihe Tex-Mest influence
of their Chicano roots led to a sudden increase in
popularity.
After wiunin# a (iramms in IVH4 for their soon
"Anselma," lass l.ohos released their first full-len#th
allium, “How Will Ihe Wolf Sursise." which went gold
and achiesed world-wide critical acclaim for Ihe hand.
I heir latest release is mosin# steadily up Ihe charts
with hits such as “Shakin', shahiu’, shakes” and “Set Me
Free.” Drummer l.ouie Perez, who wrote most of the
allium along with Dasicl Hidalgo, recent Is tried to sum up
the record's intent: "Sure, we’re huildin# on somethin#;
traditions that are part of our musical past. Hut we’re
huildin# somethin# that's our own. I think this allium
makes that clear.”
“By The l.ight Of Ihe Moon" look marly a year to
produce, thus resea I in# the hand's dedication to quality.
I.os I olios has worked with llurnett on their other alliums
as well as on some of his work. They base also played on
Flsis Costello's "Kin# of America," ami on Ihe
phenomenally successful “(•raceland” by Paul Simon.
