much concentration and inten
sity," said Oregon head coach
Don Monson, whose team won
its third straight game. "We
were a half count behind
everything."
But Monson was by no means
denouncing Seat tie-Pacific's
effort.
"You've got to give them
(Seattle-Pacific) credit," Mon
son said. “Their kids played
hard and patiently... !'m sure
this was the best ball game
they've played."
Meyer was also impressed
with the Falcons' play: "We
were really careful not to say
they're just Division II and take
them lightly."
Taylor admitted that Seattle
Pacific "out-worked us in the
first half."
Hut the Ducks got down to
business and came out after in
termission to hit 63 percent of
their shots from the field and
play "more spirited." accor
ding to Monson,
Most of Oregon’s spirit came
from Taylor and Moyer, who
were the catalysts in the second
half, scoring 34 of the Ducks’ 49
[mints.
Taylor scored a career-high
34 points that night, including
20 in the second half on seven
of nine from the field. He finish
ed the game 12 of 20 and nine of
10 from the line.
Taylor not only primed the
Ducks' offensive attack, but bat
tled under the boards at the
other end for 11 rebounds, also
a career best.
“I wasn't taking off on the
break as much." Taylor said of
his rebounding success. "I held
back a little more because they
were taking the lane away on
the break."
Meyer, who has been struggl
ing offensively since his season
opening 20 points against Mon
tana. ignited for a 20-point per
formance against the Falcons.
He was eight of 11 from the
field, including five of six in the
second half, and four of six from
the free-throw line.
