Stand-ins stump for candidates
at ASUO, campus ministry forum

Supporters of gubernatorial
candidates Neil Goldschmidt
and Norma Paulus were at the
University on Wednesday after
noon to stump for the two in a
political forum in Room 101 of
the EMU.
The forum was cosponsored
by the ASUO and Gampus Inter
faith Ministry.
Jean Tale, a local real estate
developer, represented Paulus.
Ted Kulongowski. the 1982
democratic candidate for gover
nor who was defeated by cur
re nt Gov. Vic Atlyeh.
represented Goldschmidt.
Kulongowski and Tate both
echoed the campaign declara
tions of Goldschmidt and
Paulus and fielded questions

final weekend, late polls have
indicated that the governor’s
race is a "dead heat.” This
follows the endorsements of
Goldschmidt by the state's three
largest newspapers: The Orego
nian in Portland. The
Statesman-lournal in Salem,
and The Register-Guard in
Eugene.
Kulongowski went so far as to
claim the election was ‘ ‘already
over.”
