New revolution
For several months the media
has boon reporting a guber
natorial general election cam
paign between Democrat Neil
(ioldschmidt and Kepublican
Norma Paulus, more or less ig
noring the fact that Democrats
have a people's candidate in
State Senator Kd Fadeley. due to
face Goldschmidt In the May 20
primary election.
In recent weeks Fadeley has
come along from 15 percent to
20 percent in public opinion
polls against his highly adver
tised opponent. The roal
genera! election campaign is to
begin May 21.
Having served 25 years in
stale government. Fadeley has
developed expertise in state
budgeting and education
finance. In business partnership
with his son. Fadeley cares
altout Oregon and the people
who live here. He continues to
opi>ose any sales tax. including
the one the Oregon Kducation
Association intends to place on
the November ballot.
Both Goldschmidt and Paulus
supported last year's sales tax
and both are committed to the
megabucks corporate structure
in Portland, the inter-state
(tanks, the private utilities and
the phone company. Those in
terests are contributing heavily
t o the c a m p aig n s of
Goldschmidt and Paulus, "the
sales tax twins."
In Fd Fadeley, Oregonians
have a gubernatorial candidate
who promises "a new revolu
tion in the spirit of Oregon." so
the majority of voters regain
control of state government in
their best interest, the best in
terest of all wage earners and
small business people.
Democrats should wake up
and learn about Fadeley; his
campaign office on High Street
in Flugene has information

lie is now finishing his second
year of law school.
With his extensive University
background, there could be no
stronger advocate for higher
education than Steve Kichkind.

In order to remedy the inequity
ami sexism. Hiawatha contends
that a shuttle for men must also
lie provided.

1) Deranged women stalk the
campus, castrating unsuspec
ting male students. The ASUO
sponsors for "men only" a
workshop entitled "How To
Save Your Halls."
2) A serious medical problem
strikes UO women, and requires
the services of an additional
gynecologist. The AMl() hires a

problem here is simply that men
don’t need a shuttle for protec
tion from rape any more than
women need a lecture on hall
protection, or men the services
of a gynecologist.
Sexual d i s cr i m in a t i o n
necessarily entails an unjust ex
clusion of one sex. It is rather
absurd to argue, as Hiawatha
does, that there is an unjust ex
clusion of men where there is
no proper context for their
inclusion.
One is left wondering why
Hiawatha hasn't been lobbying
for such exigencies as goal posts
lor lilt; softball team and football
helmets for the basketball team.

only fitting they should be

pho II. Writers of schedules and
other printed materials might
find it convenient to refer to the
overall service as The lesbian

Graphics should be
downplayed so as to lend pro
minence to the name of the ser
vice's founding mothers: U. of
O. Chapter No. 1. Loyal and
Sororital Order of the Daughters
of la;sbos.
Since it's apparently required
that van drivers he avowed les
bians or that they hold reserve
commissions in the Lesbian SS,
then; can surely be no objec
tions to their adopting smart
black uniforms, including peak
ed dress caps, fitted tunics with
garrison belts, jodhpurs and
black jackboots. All buttons and
insignia will, of course, be
silver.
This will all be funded by the
ASUQ. naturally, out of
bureaucratically-stolen monies
that an; partially obtained from
male students. And let's not
forget two minor points: none of
those same male students who
an; forced to help buy the
dykes' vans can ever apply to be
hired to drive them; nor can
they even ride in them.
