more than just the immediate reward of seeing a
familiar face in a crowd of listeners He says
there’s potential in many of his private-lesson
students.
“When 1 teach my students, my private
students on saxophone. I'm also having a hand in

| about as much energy from them as 1 give them.
Woideck will be offering a class on the
I history of funk-fusion music during winter term
at the University. Funk-fusion was popularized
by people like Miles Davis. Herbie Hancock. Pat
Metheny and the Crusaders. The class will ex
plore all types of fusion music: that has evolved
from 1968 to present.
Asked if he’s willing to accept financial in
stability in Eugene, as characteristic of his trade,
for very much longer. Woideck said he'll con
tinue here for a few more years
"I’m not glorifying senseless struggle and
unhappiness," he says, "but the artist’s path is a
well-worn path, and I'm happy to be on that
path.”
