y! What is the role of the student-athlete, as their title suggests, off the
athletic field? Where do they fit into the University as academic students?
Do they encounter special problems? Should they have special privileges
along with rules and regulations?
A. I Inside, Bill Byrne, Oregon’s Athletic Director, along with Chapin
Clark, the faculty athletic representative, speak out on what is being done to
help make sure the student-athlete fits into universities across the country
and, in particular, what’s happening with Oregon’s student-athletes.
