Group calls for tree-cutting halt
University geography senior David Rusk, a member of the “Eugene Coalition for
Old Growth, ” is camping out in a teepee on the front steps of the Federal Building in
Eugene until Thursday, protesting the cutting of old growth trees in national forests.
Rusk and the coalition are calling for a moratorium on all old growth cutting,
specifically in the Santiam Cathedral Forest.
