Paul Olum has ordered the university flag to fly at half staff Friday in memory of former University and Olympic sprinter Chris Brathwaite and former student Michael Feher. An estimated 250 to 300 peo ple. including members of Feher’s Delta Tau Delta fraterni ty, attended his 20-minute funeral Thursday in his hometown of Everett, Wash. Services for Brathwaite will be held Friday in Eugene. Meanwhile, Eugene police said Thursday that traces of co caine were found in the body oi Feher, 19, who killed Brathwaite and then shot himself to death at Autzen Stadium Monday morning. Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Mellgren said tests conducted by the Oregon State Police crime laboratory showed traces of cocaine in Feher’s urine, but the amount of the drug could not be determined. Earlier, police had said an un disclosed amount of cocaine had been found on in the gun man's body and that Feher was known to have used cocaine the night before the shootings. During the shooting spree, which began just after 8:30 a.m., the 34-year-old Brathwaite was killed as he jog ged along a bicycle path near the stadium where Feher was perched. Wrestler Rick O’Shea. 22. suffered shrapnel wounds to his leg and buttock, and was released from Sacred Heart Hospital Tuesday. Most of those in attendance at Feher's funeral Thursday were young. Many of the guests stood outside the funeral home and watched through windows. There w'as no casket at the service. Feher’s body was to bo cremated later in the day. Rabbi Richard Rosenthal ask ed those attending the service to remember Feher as they had known him and not for what happened Monday. At least 300 to 400 people, in eluding members of Brathwaite's family, local athletes and about a dozen friends and family from Trinidad, are expected to attend a public funeral for Brathwaite at 1 p.m. Friday at England’s Eugene Memorial Chapel, 202 E. 18th Ave. The service will be followed by burial at Rest-Haven Memorial Park, East 40th Avenue and Willamette Street. A ceremonial Trinidadian wake will be held following the burial at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church. 1760 Echo Hollow Rd. A 1976 graduate of the University of Oregon, Brathwaite competed in the 197.6 and 1980 Olympic Games for his native Trinidad. He also competed in the Pan American Games,. the British Com monwealth Games and the World Gup Championships in Helsinki, rinland.. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and 5-year-old son. Sean. Other survivors include his mother, Alma, three brothers. Ferdinand! Godfrey and Tony., arid one sister. Cyn thia, all of Port-of'-Spain, Trinidad; and a brother, Renrick, of New York City. Two funds have been set up in Brathwaite's memory. One was established through the Oregon Association of Child Care Workers, of which Brathwaite was a member. The other, a k;hoiarship fund, was established at the Benj. Franklin Federal Savings arid Loan. Eugene 97440 Shultz to stay as secretary WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State George Shultz has been asked by President Ronald Reagan to continue at his post in Reagan’s second term and Shultz has agreed to stay, State Department spokesman John Hughes said today. "The president has asked him to stay and he is honored to stay on.” Hughes said. Shultz had been expected to continue in office.
