Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tuesday. Oregon residents may register to vote
today and Election.Day at Lane County Elec
tions/Voter Registration. 135 E. Sixth Ave. If
you have changed your address-since the last
time you voted, you must re-register. •
Also, election results will be distributed
from the Convention Center af t he Lane County
Fairgrounds for the first time, and the publjcis
invited to come share in the excitement of elec
tion night.
“Moving to the Convention Center allows
us to encourage everyone to turn out and be
part of the festivity in seeing and hearing elec
tion results for themselves,” says Dave
Spriggs, elections administrator. “We can also
offer better facilities for the media and better
accommodate candidates and their staffs.”
The first election results are expected at
8:05 p.m., with results following thereafter at
(approximate) 45-minute intervals.
Entertainment will be provided by local
Dixieland jazz combo ‘‘The Pussyfoot
Stampers, ” and food and drinks will be
available for sale.
Television monitors will be strategically
placed throughout the center.
The Emerald encourages everyone to
register, if they haven’t already done so. and
then vote.
