    Behave yourself Friday!
Toy guns and “assassin” or “killer”
games will not be welcome on campus during
vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Fer
raro’s visit Friday, and any evidence of either
could result in serious consequences for per
sons involved.
Those admonitions come from a Secret
Service agent and a Eugene police officer, who
observed students playing a game with toy
guns in the EMU at about 2:30 p.m. Wednes
day, during a Secret Service advance tour of
the campus.
“Things happen real quick and (the Secret
Service) takes this real seriously with someone
this important.” said Sgt. Chuck Tilloy of the
Eugene Police Department, referring to the
danger of a gun-toting person being subdued
or possibly even shot.
Special Agent Thomas Blecha of the
, Secret Service’s Portland office warned of
possible serious injury” to persons carrying
weapons or objects resembling weapons dur
ing Ferraro’s visit.
“Our agents may not be familiar with the
“assassin” or “killer” games, and if students
are playing the game when Ferraro is around
there could be problems,” he said. “We don’t
want a student to get hurt.”
Ferraro is scheduled to speak at noon Fri
day on the EMU east lawn.
Two Northwestern University students
who were playing “killer” on the Evanston,
111. campus were mistaken for gunmen by
police officers earlier this month. According to
the school’s newspaper, the students were
ordered at gunpoint to drop their toy weapons
and assume positions normally assumed by
criminal suspects.
