Chinese drop volleyballers The Oregon women’s volleyball team received a taste of international play Sunday night in McArthur Court as the national team from the People’s Republic of China beat the Ducks in three games. *15-10, 15-5 and 15-10 in an exhibition match. Oregon played the Chinese tough throughout the three games, but an experienced frontline led by Bu Xiao Xia and Chen Ya Chun combined on 24 kills to put an end to the Ducks’ upset hopes. “Our goal was to score five points,” said Oregon coach Chris Voelz. “We surpassed that goal and more.” Voelz credited China’s place ment of the ball against the Ducks as the key to the match. "They are very good," said Voelz. "We did fairly well, but it hard for us to adjust to the scene of the ball.” Voelz was amazed at China's ability to make the ball drop on the serve where the Chinese scored 11 service aces against the Ducks. "Their balls would move two or three feet and then drop some.” said Voelz. "We are us ed to the ball droppng eight to ten inches in American volleyball.” Besides the Chinese.
