Recreation For those interested in recreational activities this fall Eugene is the place to be. The Eugene Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs to help serve the needs of Eugene Springfield residents. Non-residents are also welcome to at tend, but any fees charged for activities will be increased by 50 percent. The following is a brief sampling of the fun EPRD has in store for its participants this fall: •If basketball is your game, the EPRD is offering a men’s I hree-on-T hree League. Registration for the team begins Sept. 20. Games will be played Tuesday evenings at Kennedy Middle School beginning October 9 and continuing through November 20. The department also offers coed basketball. The organizational meeting for winter basketball leagues will be held Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 777 Pearl St. League play begins in early December and continues through March 1. •The Eugene Fencing Club meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the small gym at Roosevelt Middle School, 680 East 24th. Instruction and equipment are available for students and adults. For more in formation, call Paul McNamara at 688-6424. •The Eugene Lacrosse Club is now being formed. Teams will compete in the Pacific Northwest Lacrosse Association League. These games are open to the public at no charge. Cancella tions occur during school activities, holidays, and vacations. Locations, starting dates, and times are as follows: Monday — Spencer Butte Middle School, 500 East 43rd, September 24 - May; 7-10 p m. Tuesday — Jefferson Middle School, 1650 W. 22nd, September 25 - May; 7-10 p.m. Thursday — Monroe Middle School, 2800 Bailey Lane, September 27 - May; 7-10 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday — Shasta Middle School, 4656 Barger Drive, September 25 - May; 7:30-9:30 p.m. •There is also an afterschool childcare program which welcomes all children in grades 1-5. Leaders of the Children’s Afterschool Recreation Experience will conduct weekly recreation programs that include arts, crafts, sports, games and cooking. For an additional fee, transportation from both Danebo Elementary School and Clear Lake Elemen tary School will be provided. The program will be held Monday-Friday from 2-6 p.m. at the Petersen Barn Community Center. Eugene residents will be charged $5/day, $15/week and $54/month; with transportation, $6/day, $18/week and $70/month. For further information on area activities, call EPRD at 687-5333.
