Destiny
Wind heavy at your back
Gray skies yielding nothing
Everywhere you look
There is no path to follow.
All that lies behind you
Are images of a mirror.
While tomorrow holds
Your rocking-horse past.
And as rivers rush to the sea
So go mad dogs, Englishmen and friends.
It is a lost parallel
Never to be felt again.
Yet money is your substance
And here and there
A hand, a smile and a kiss
Take it all away.

Something called love
I went to the store
Just the other day
And tried to buy myself some love.
The man at the counter
He looked real strange
When I asked what size it came in.
He glanced through the window
And muttered with spit
We’re out of stock today.
So I picked up my wallet
And walked out the door.
It began to rain.
I didn’t have a coat
Or a can or a box of love.
Gotta try again some other day.

No more goodnights
1 walked up the stairs
threw my clothes off,
put on my pajamas,
turned off the lights,
lay down on my bed.
Immediately my eyes melted into
the deep, black space of the room. . .
I pondered on some thoughts,
dwelled on words of short past
as I lay still... motionless.
So I say goodnight to myself
in a dark lonely room. . .
no more hugs
no more kisses
no more I love yous
just —
dead silence.
