police beat
Campus area crimes reported to
the Eugene Police Department
during the past week include the
following:
Delbert Story was arrested Oct.
26 for first degree robbery and at
tempted murder at Old Taylor's
Tavern. The bartender at Taylor's
said Story had been in the tavern
early that day and returned at
about 9 p.m. Story then asked for
a brown paper bag, showed a
small caliber handgun to the
bartender and said: "You do it,
you fill it up (with money)," accor
ding to Sgt. Rick Allison. Story,
who did not pay a cover charge,
was approached by the bouncer.
A struggle ensued and patrons of
the tavern — mainly University
students — wrestled Story to the
floor and held him until police ar
rived. Three shots were fired.
An auto chase that ended at the
University led to the arrest of An
thony Sung Kim, 19, on Oct. 27.
Kim's vehicle was spotted in
Eugene by police. A car chase with
speeds up to 60 mph ended on
campus at 1:15 p.m. Kim drove in
to the Allen Hall parking lot where
he jumped out of the moving
auto. A police car was used to stop
the driverless car. A University
student tackled Kim, who was ar
rested by police for burglary,
reckless endangering, and at
tempting to elude police. He is
suspected in five other area
burglaries.
Six bicycles have been stolen
since Oct. 28.
Three bicycle injury accidents
were reported during the week.
A clothes dryer was damaged at
the Walton-Smith complex on
Oct. 27. It will cost $400 to repair
the machine.
A man broke into a women's dor
mitory room in Carson Hall for an
alleged attempted sodomy on
Sunday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 a.m. The
suspect is described -as a white
male, six feet one to six feet three
inches tall, with a thin build and
brown hair. The victim said her
door was locked before the crime
occured. The suspect matched the
description given for a similar
crime that occurred in September
in Walton Hall.
A incident of public indecency
was reported outside Cerlinger
Annex on Oct. 27. According to
the report, a group of females
were leaving the building at 6:30
p.m. when a white male leaped in
to their path and began mastur
bating. He is described as six feet
three inches tall, 30 years old, 160
pounds, brown hair and was wear
ing a dark thigh-length raincoat
and jeans.
Two females and one male were
harassed in Pioneer Cemetery on
Halloween night. The suspects
"smelled like beer," according to
one of the victims. The victims
managed to escape without
serious harm.
A purse with contents valued at
$349 was taken from Fenton Hall
on Oct. 28.
The Excelsior Cafe reported that a
display window worth $175 was
broken on Oct. 26.

career will be the topic of a pro
gram sponsored in part by the
University’s School of Law at 7:30
p.m. Friday at the Amazon Com
munity Center.
Sharon Cordon, assistant dean

Lawyers, Womens' Law Forum
and Student Bar Association.
