I Party-monsters rock beneath the sheets Toga! Toga! Toga! It was like "Animal House" brought to new peaks of insanity. After all, how can you go wrong when you have the combination of about 700 people dressed in nothing but sheets, a dance floor and one of the hottest party bands in the country? And that's what the University had Friday night as the Kingsmen, who reached stardom with that classic oldie but goodie, "Louie, Louie," rocked the EMU Ballroom Friday night at what was to be the largest toga party of all time. The only thing missing was Bluto and the gang and perhaps a jello eating contest or two. But that didn't kill the fun. The toga party fits the University like a sheet fits a bed. Shot to national fame in the movie "Animal House," filmed on the University campus, John Belushi and Company's classic toga party swept the nation and the toga has been enshrined as one of a few classic "theme" parties. This toga party, sponsored by the Interfraternity Council and the Cultural Forum was "Definitely a wild time," according to Bruce Overstreet, one of the events activities directors. The groups originally ex pected more than 2,000 people, Overstreet said, but late changes in promotion and in the location of the dance lowered their original estimate. But despite the few minor glitches in the pro gram, the people who showed up had fun. Wearing nothing but a sheet adds something to every party. Photos by Dave Kao
