A Russian’s view of nuclear war aired
University geography professor Ron Wix
man will discuss the Russian citizen's percep
tion of nuclear war Sunday at 7 p.m. at the
Unitarian Church, 477 E. 40th Avenue.
Wixman will evaluate the views that the
Russian “man on the street” has in relation to
the concerns of his American counterpart over
the nuclear arms race.
The free speech, sponsored by the
Unitarian Church and the University speakers'
bureau, is entitled “Does Ivan Feel He Can
Trust the Americans?"
Wixman's speech is the last in a series of
four church presentations featuring University
professors.
Wixman has studied Russia and East
Europe extensively, and he participated in the
recent East European studies festival, pro
viding a collection of Macedonian costumes for
display.

instructor and duties as ASUO
vice president-elect forced
him to resign last Friday.
Kouns’ departure marks the
fifth comptroller resignation
this year. Two comptrollers
quit for personal reasons and
two more quit because of the
political tension in the office
during the ASUO elections.
ASUO Pres. C.J. Balfe says
Kouns was keeping David Gib
son, ASUO vice president for
administration and finance,
from balancing the books.
“We asked him to get out of
the comptroller's business,"
Balfe says. “He doesn’t know
how to manage money.”
The bookkeeper will get the
books caught up and do spot
audits, Gibson says. Students
should inquire about the posi
tion in EMU Suite 4 because
applications are not open.
