The Erb Memorial Union Main IV4. Store cashes checks as a
service for students, faculty and stall of the University of Oregon.
Students must present a current certificate of registration and a plastic
identification card with picture; faculty /staff must present their plastic
identification card with picture and current validation sticker.
There is a 15 cent service charge per check. Make checks payable
to the Erb Memorial Union and include Eugene address and phone
number (or department and extension for faculty/staff) tin the check.
The limit on checks is S10.00 unless otherwise posted.
When writing checks, double-check your bank balance. Make sure
what you think will be a “good check" doesn’t turn out to be a bad
check." If vour check is returned, there is a service charge of J7.50. This
is in addition to anv service charge charged by your bank. You will also
lose the privilege of cashing checks at the Erb Memorial Union for the
remainder of the year (July 1, 1482—June30, 1483).
To abide by policies set forth by the banks: 1) We cannot accept
counter checks, 2) There can be no alterations or changes made on
checks, 3) We cannot accept personal second party checks and 4) If
you do not have personalized checks additional I.D. must be presented
I D. EOR CASHING CHECKS PRIOR TO LAST DAY TO PAY
FEES WITHOUT PENALTY.

Oregon has gotten back the quarterback of
the future, but what that exactly might be, only
Dana Hill knows
The freshman quarterback who left school
and the football team Monday, has decided to
return to Oregon, but must first "prove himself.”
"He'll have to prove himself to his teammates
and the coaches that he is willing to accept the
responsibility of playing for us," said Oregon
coach Rich Brooks
"He's had problems and hopefully he'll learn
from them, but we 'll have to wait and see.”
Currently in Los Angles, Hill will miss the
Oregon-USC game on Saturday, but will return
with the team to Eugene after the game
“Of course he’s not going to step in as the
first-string quarterback, he'll have to earn it. and
show that he really wants it," said Brooks
Hill had been suspended for the Washington
game last weekend, after missing a team meeting
That and personality problems led Hill to leave
Oregon, said Oliver Lucas, Hill's high school
coach in Pomona Calif Lucas would not
elaborate on the problems
"I talked to him and we hashed it out and
decided it was best for him to return to school,”
said Oliver "He's had troubles understanding
what he should do, and was unsure about
whether he should have been suspended Now he
has a better understanding of what happened "
Oliver had contacted Hill after he found out
that the freshman had left Eugene.
“He lived with me last year, and I help him
make decisions He trusts me He had problems
and handled them differently than he should have
He is disappointed with the way he handled it, but
I think he's learned from it
"He is a freshman, and he handled it like a
freshmar. He acted emotionally instead of
rationally." said Lucas
Lucas said one of the problems that Hill had
was that the Oregon coaches were shielding him
too much
"They tried to protect him both in practice
and m games They didn't think a freshman could
handle the pressure of big play situations
"But Dana is a pressure player A money
player He thrives under it, and needs it to do
well."
Lucas said the coaches also kept Hill from
working hard and hitting in practice, which didn't
help Hill improve
"He's like a Clydesdale, he's got to be worked
to do well," said Lucas.
“I know that in college, coaches worry about
quarterbacks getting hurt, but if Dana is going to
do well, he has to work for it."

The Recreation and Intramural staff is happy to welcome all of
you new and returning students to the University of Oregon.
We hope your stay will be both educationally and
recreationally rewarding.
This fall a variety of recreational activities are available to
students and faculty - you are all invited to get involved
Razzle-Dazzle Football is in its third season as an intramural
sport, and is offered in Men, Women and Co-ed divisions.
Spontaneous, wild, exciting and fun, Razzle-Dazzle is an
experience not to be missed!
Flag Football is available for men and women in Divisions I and
II.
Volleyball for Men, Women and Co-ed leagues begins the
season on October 6. Entry deadline is October 4. Get your
entry NOW!
Bowling leagues for Co-ed, Women and Men are forming.
Entries are due October 7.
Inner Tube Water Basketball. If you’ve never tried this game,
you’re in for a very wet treat! Basketball in the water - in an
inner tube! It’s played as a co-ed game, and you’ll need six
players (3 women and 3 men). Games are scheduled Monday
through Thursday evenings 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Tennis Singles Tournament will be held on Saturday, October
2. Get involved in this event by picking up an entry form at the
RIM office. Matches will be played on the covered courts.
Fun Runs, welcome to Eugene! The first fun run will be held on
Wednesday, October 6. Check the RIM office for details. Runs
vary in length from one to four miles. (Maps are available in the
office for jogging courses around campus.)
Century Club, swim, cycle or run...or do all three! For
beginners, intermediates, or advanced athletes; you set your
own goal, and we log and chart your progress. Stop by the
RIM office for an entry form, then begin a self-paced program
for staying fit.
Players Without Partners is a service for tennis, racquetball
and squash players. Anyone wishing to register on the list may
then use the list to find a partner. Lists are kept for beginners,
intermediates and advanced players.
Learn a new part-time skill and get paid while doing it! Come in
to the RIM office now.
Football/Volleyball Officials Needed: Applications available in
the Rim Office.
