composed of 54 elected
members — 36 faculty and 18
students All motions for new
faculty legislation are referred
to the University Senate for
deliberation, review, and an
advisory recommendation to
the University Assembly
The University Assembly is
composed of faculty members
and has the final vote on all
issues
The University Assembly is
scheduled to meet at 3:30 p m
on Wednesday, Oct 6 in Room

Prothe delivers rebuff
to USAB squad slough

The first meeting of the
Student University Affairs Board
Wednesday was marked by the
absence of half of its members
Each absent board member
will be fined $5 for the no show,
says Mike Prothe, SUAB
member and last year's vice
chair He added that the money
will go towards a travel expense
fund for legislative lobbying,
which the Incidental Fee Com
mittee refused to fund during
last year's budget session
In other business, Prothe
announced the schedule for the
Oct 21 Political Fair The panel
that will question the various
political candidates at the
SUAB-sponsored event will
consist of members of the
ASUO, SUAB, the Student
University Relations Council,
and the Oregon Daily Emerald
To kick off the event,
Democrat Gratten Kerans, the
incumbent state representative
in District 39, will debate
Republican challenger Jerry
Reilly
Following the 10:30 a m.
debate will be a speech and
question-and-answer session
by Democrat Larry Hill, running
for the District 42 representative
position Republican Vern
Meyer is unable to attend
A three-way debate for the
District 40 representative posi
tion will mark the 12:30 p m
session, with Citizens Party
candidate Laurel Paulson
taking on Republican Robert
O'Reily and Democrat Carl
Hosticka
Democrat William Frye will
debate against Republican
Jonathan Bates in the District 22
state senatorial contest at 1:30
p.m.
Democratic challenger
Margie Hendriksen will face
Republican incumbent George
Wingard at 2:30 p.m. in the Dis
trict 20 senate debate
Democrat Mike Grove and
Republican Mary Burrows will
follow at 3:30 p.m. in the District
41 representative contest
Democrat Sharon Murphy will
be the only speaker
representing District 43 in a
speech scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Republican Larry Campbell is
unable to attend
A Ballot Measure 3 debr *e is
tentatively scheduled for 5:30
p.m.
University student and
Republican challenger Mike
Cross will debate Democratic
incumbent Ed Fadeley for the
District 21 senate seat at 6:30
p m Republican challenger
Ross Anthony will give the

to attend the session
