Police seek help
in locating rapist
The Eugene Police Department is making a plea to
the University community for help in locating a man who
raped a University student in her East 12th Avenue
apartment 10 days ago.
At about 1:15 a m., Saturday, July 10, the rapist
entered the victim's apartment through an unlocked
window, woke the victim and raped her at knife-point,
says David Poppe, detective in charge of the investiga
tion.
The victim was treated at Sacred Heart Hosital and
released.
The rapist is described in police reports as a white
male of med>um build, approximately 25 years old, five
feet eleven inches tall, 150 pounds with a stubble of
beard and medium light hair. He wore a white T-shirt
and blue jeans.
"I don’t think it’s his first time,” Poppe says. The
suspect displayed signs of severe psychological prob
lems that suggest continuous offenses. Those prob
lems should be noticeable to the suspect's associates
or relatives. Poppe says.
