Wilkins clears up student coupon mystery The confusion arising from two student discount offers has apparently been cleared up A story in the July 8 Emerald reported that a local chiroprac tor, Vip Short, called the ASUO to ask if a student discount card he had advertised in had been distributed Short said the ASUO was a sponsor of the Campus Cooperative Services discount card John Moore, ASUO Executive Coordinator, began an inves tigation to determine it the New bus service connects Eugene surf lovers and coast Sand, surf and sun lovers (Yes, Virginia, the sun sometimes shines upon Oregon) now have easy transportation — via the Oregon Coast Line Inc. — to enjoy hedonistic delights. The line has inaugurated the first Eugene-to-coast round trip bus service in nearly four years. It's all right that not a single passenger boarded the bus for the first two departures from Eugene Thursday morning, says John McCaffry, driver and corporation spokesman. The buses will run on schedule regardless, he adds. The line’s main bus is a rebuilt 1964 school bus The bus has room for 24 passengers and 12 bicycles, and also has the convenience of a bathroom for those long hauls. A 14 passenger air-conditioned Maxi-Van completes the line's fleet. The buses leave for Florence from 10th and Olive Streets Thursday through Monday at 9 a m. They depart for Eugene from Honeyman Park in Florence at 4:55 p.m. The bus also stops at Old Town Pizza and Dunes Mall in Florence, and in Mapleton, Walton, Noti and Veneta. Additional trips leave Eugene on Thursdays and Saturdays at 7 a m. and 5 30 p.m. Addi tional return trips leave Honeyman Park at 9 a m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets are $6.50 one-way and $10 round trip between Eugene and Old Town Pizza in Florence. Other stops are discounted or in creased accordingly. Bicycles can be taken along for an extra dollar each way. Twenty percent discounts are available for seniors and children. Coastal tours from Florence begin Thursday for $12.50. The tour price includes admission to Sea Lion Caves. Advance tickets are on sale at Atrium Shoe Repair in Eugene (345-3011) and Haiti's Florist in Florence (997-8685). ASUO had agreed to distribute the card. Moore said he thought the chiropractor was referring to the Windfall coupon booklets distributed at summer registra tion and told Short that the ASUO was not tied to the book lets. Short did not advertise on the Windfall booklet. However, former ASUO Pres. Rich Wilkins says the ASUO agreed last fall to distribute the Campus Cooperative Services discount cards during fall regis tration. The cards offer dis counts at local businesses Al Grossman, of Windfall Ad vertising, says his coupon offer should not be confused with Campus Cooperative Services of Lansing, Mich., the printer of the discount cards. Grossman's firm distributed coupon book lets at summer registration Campus Cooperative Ser vices contacted the ASUO last fall about distributing the dis count cards, Wilkins says. -OlUl food service WEDNESDAY BEER GARDEN 3:50-6:30 in the EMU Dining Room & Courtyard 54 oz pitcher $2.50 16 oz glass .75 l.D. required FOREIGN AUTO CLINIC 485-2252 782 E.
