a woman to have an abortion,
Charles says *'For instance,
when Pam was first pregnant I
was in medical school at the
time, and we were dealing with
one of the clinics in San Fran
cisco that does a lot of abor
tions When she was told her
pregnancy test was positive, the
response was, ‘Well, what do
you want to do about it?' "
Pam adds. ”1 said, What do
you mean? I don't understand
the question ’ And they said,
Would you want to terminate or
continue?’ I think that was pretty
crass."
But does the pro-life
movement have the right to
legislate its morality?
"The equivalent of the Su
preme Court in West Germany
ruled against abortion-on
demand because of the impact
that that would have on society
in terms of de-valuing human
beings,” Charles says The

not worthy of life, he adds
"We've been through that, and
the answer is, no, it's not ac
ceptable
"Views of some kind are in
flicted upon society, anyway So
the question is, are there certain
situations where we make laws
and certain situations where we
don't make laws? Most people
have no problem with a law that
says it is not UK to muroer now,
those people are inflicting that
view on the people who want to
commit murder
"If, in fact, the fetus is human
and the fetus is living, then it is
just as reasonable to say it is not
OK to kill that fetus as it is to say
it's not OK to kill you, or me, or
anybody else."
