opportunity to perform.
"I like the theatre department
here," she continues "It's small
enough that you can get in
dividual attention. You can
learn here There is a great var
iety of input."
Leslie says she likes doing
musicals, so much so that the
day after “The Boy Friend"
closes she’s going to Big Fork,
Montana, where she will per
form in four musicals at a sum
mer stock theatre there.
“This summer will help me to
know if theatre is what I really
want to do," she says "I'll be
doing theatre all the time with
out having to worry about a
science class. "
"People want to see this kind
of thing,’’ she asserts "The
bottom line is that people want
to be entertained. I know it
sounds corny, but people these
days like to come and not have
to worry about anything for two
and a half hours.
"I remember during a curtain
call for “Anything Goes" (a Cole
Porter musical) last year,” Les
lie says "I looked out and saw
an old man, maybe in his 80s, in
the fourth row. This man didn’t
have any teeth but he had this
big, broad smile on his face, and
he was clapping and tears were
rolling down his face. I don't
care what anybody says about
musicals, it’s worth it!"

NUCLEAR
To improve national and international
security, the United States and the Soviet
Union should stop the nuclear arms race.
Specifically they should adopt a mutual
freeze on the testing, production, and
deployment of nuclear weapons and of
missies and new aircraft designed primarily
to deliver nuclear weapons. This is an
essential, verifiable first step towards
lessening the risk of nuclear war and
reducing the nuclear arsenals.
We, the undersigned, support the above Nuclear Weapons Freeze Proposal and call for all concerned
citizens to demonstrate their support of the Nuclear Freeze at the Freeze Rally on May 15,1982, in Alton
Baker Park, Eugene, Oregon.
