High water may
hamper anglers
By the Associated press
Snow, mud and high water
are expected to be the biggest
obstacles to anglers who ven
ture out on the opening day of
trout season in most Oregon
waters next Saturday, April 24
The heavy winter and spring
snowfall could block access to
several lakes that normally lure
fishermen on opening day.
Muddy roads also could be a
problem, and high water could
hamper fishing conditions on
many streams
Coastal rivers, most streams
in northeastern Oregon, and a
few lakes will remain closed to
trout fishing until May 22 The
Oregon Department of Fish and
Wildlife urged anglers to pick up
a copy of fishing regulations
that are available free where
fishing licenses are sold
