State Alexander Haig broke off a
six-day diplomatic shuttle
Tuesday and flew home to tell

new ideas" for averting a Bri
tish-Argentine war over the
Falkland Islands
But he sounded a note of
growing anxiety as Britain and
Argentina remained in apparent
deadlock over which country s
flag will fly in the South Atlantic
archipelago

night after day-long talks with
