ble to incoming freshmen.
"I honestly don’t think I could
advise a talented, serious gym
nast to come to Oregon right
now," Gustafson said "I would
want so badly to support my
school, but I just couldn’t do it."
Putting this year’s problems
aside, however, isn’t difficult for
Gustafson, who looks at her
career as being most fulfilling
"I’m better than I’ve ever been
right now, and if the scores
don’t reflect that, you just have
to accept it," Gustafson said "I
judge my performance by how I
felt I did, not by the score they
flash up The score is big for the
crowd, but not for the gymnast. ’ ’
Gustafson said she’ll be
relieved when she finally
reaches the end of this season
and draws to a close her life in
competitive gymnastics
"I can't wait I don’t know
when I've gotten home before 6
or 7:30," she says "Not being
able to see the sun, you just go
straight through the morning,
the afternoon, and then it’s off
to the gym "
But she admits she 'll have
difficulty staying away from
gymnastics
"Sure, after a couple of
months. I’ll probably want to go
back to the gym Yeah, I'm go
ing to miss it," she said
Likewise, what’s left of
Oregon women’s gymnastics
will probably miss her as well.
