Walker's gone, Haney will be
back, and Adams is able to play
this weekend.
Those are the off-the-court
developments to come out of
the Oregon men's basketball
camp this week, a drama which
has rivaled General Hospital at
times.
Despite the controversy sur
rounding his basketball
program, head coach Jim
Haney hopes the Ducks will be
able to break their six-game
losing streak when they travel to
the state of Washington for a
pair of weekend games
"It was a productive week on
the practice floor," Haney said
Thursday. "The enthusiasm and
the execution in practice have
really picked up this week "
Six days ago, Oregon suf
fered the most lopsided defeat
in its history as Oregon State
thrashed the Ducks, 94-51 After
the game, Barry Walker made
his now-infamous comments to
the press about Haney, and was
subsequently dropped from the
team by the coach Monday.
Haney, already under heavy
public criticism following the
OSU loss and the losing streak,
suffered even more flack be
, cause of the Walker decision.
But University athletic direc
tor Rick Bay put an end to
questions of Haney’s future as
head coach when he gave the
fourth-year coach a vote of
confidence the next day
“I don’t know if we'll sell one
season ticket next year, but Jim
Haney will be our coach,” Bay
stated publicly.
So with that question out of
the way, it is back to the task of
playing basketball for the

Ducks. And they’ll be doing it
with the help of freshman center
Jerry Adams, who just a few
days ago was talking like he
might sit out the rest of the sea
son beacuse of a knee injury
‘Til play this weekend and
we’ll see what will happen after
that." Adams said yesterday. "I
practiced on it (the knee) today
and it felt good "

conference with an 11-3 record

Women testify
in WSU lawsuit
COLFAX, Waah. (AP) - Con
ditions tor women athletes at
Washington State University are
not objectionable, say five
athletes and coaches
"If the area you change your
underwear in is important in
whether you win or lose, then
we re all in trouble," said
Anthony Tenisci, assistant
women's track coach at WSU.
Inadequate facilities is one of
