Watch for the Bob’s Chicken on campus today!!!
Rumor has it the Artesian work ethic is especially evident on this, the
shortest day of the year
Late at night on this date, Artesians emerge from their lairs,
carrying gallons of pure artesian brewing water for Olympia
As the days are getting
shorter the evfemngs are
getting longer. This leaves
more time for you "Ducks"
to relax and enjoy Artesian
Winter Solstice and Olympia
Beer. This is especially true
if you've just finished mid
term exams
So invite some fnends
over, pop a few Oly's, and
try whistling a choms or
two of "Moon Over Miami."
Beer A quick head count is then taken
Once it's been established that everyone's present, they
begin a long, long trek to a clandestine rendezvous where
their water is collected arid sent off to the brewery On the way
back, they pray for rain and gargle at the moon
An anonymous source once reported spotting a few
Artesians whistling "Moon Over Miami ' on the return tnp
That seems unlikely
Most people agree Artesians don't know "Moon Over
Miami''

Soviet ship
sinks; 33
feared dead
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) -
Fifty-foot waves sank a Soviet
freighter in the icy North Atlantic
Tuesday, leaving 33 dead or
missing and raising the number
of feared fatalities to 117 in the
storm-lashed area in two days
The world's biggest oil rig, the
Ocean Ranger, capsized
Monday 240 miles east of New
foundland, leaving one man
drowned and 83 missing and
feared dead
On Tuesday, the freighter
Mekhanik Tarasov went down
65 miles further east
The Halifax Search and Res
cue Center said 15 bodies were
recovered from the freighter, 18
people were missing and four or
five were rescued from the
4,262-ton container ship
It said two ships were hunting
for survivors, that another ship
and a plane were heading to the
scene but that freezing condi
tions made it too dangerous for
helicopters to fly and that more
blinding snow was expected
The Mekhanik Tarasov, en
route to Europe from Trois
Rivieres Quebec, had
developed a 45-degree list
overnight in 40 knot winds,
heavy seas and freezing spray
Its cargo was not immediately
known
The area was east of the
drilling site in the Hibernia field
where the storm capsized the
$120 million Ocean Ranger
Monday morning
Mobil Oil Canada Ltd which
leased the Japanese-built rig
from a Louisiana company, said
the crew included 15 Amer
icans. 52 Newfoundlanders 16
men from other parts of Canada
and one Briton
It was the second highest toll
in the history of offshore drilling
exceeded only by the loss of 123
men in the capsizing of the ng
Alexander Kielland in the North
Sea on March 27. 1980
