Gymnasts to face Spokane CC I
It would be easy to say that the Oregon
women's gymnastics team will be looking ahead
when they face Spokane Community College at
McArththur Court Saturday night
In fact, its probably true
We re probably looking through this meet to
the Shanico Cup, admits Oregon assistant
coach Kurt Krichko The Ducks will face second
ranked Oregon State and top-ranked Utah at
Corvallis on Febraury 19 "We d like to score 140
in that one — that's our goal "
A 140 score would be a school record
Meanwhile, Oregon may have to do without
Sara Gustafson in the meet against Spokane CC
Gustafson tore ligaments in her small finger on
the right hand during Oregon's Bay Area road trip
and cannot put pressure on it; she is considered
questionable for the meet
The Bay Area trip drew mixed reactions from
Krichko The Ducks disposed of San Francisco
State easily, but finished third behind Stanford
and USC on Saturday before settling for second j
place in a three-way meet with USC and California
on Sunday
"I was pleased that we scored our highest
total of the season (136 80) against a team like
San Francisco State, and we had our highest
halfway mark of the season (70.45) on Saturday.
But I was a little disappointed not to finish with
that consistency, and then I think we were a little
flat (a 132 80) on Sunday."
Of the meet this weekend, Krichko remarked,
"We re looking at a score of 138 0 We re gonna
throw a few new tricks, but we re really looking at
next week. "
