Dorm residents hold beauty of a contest
The residents of Cloran Hall found the
proper way to celebrate the week: what could
be better than holding a beauty pageant fea
turing the men in drag?
“It's just a way for residents to spend a
Wednesday night,” Nita Veldhuisen, resident
assistant for Cloran and mastermind behind
the project “A study break."
The justification for such seamy idleness is
“Over the Hump Night,” a fortnightly festivity
celebrating the coming of the better half of the
week. There have been five such evenings so
far this year, Veldhuisen said, with the seperate
dorms of the Hamilton and Bean complexes
taking turns being host
But some weeks just seem to deserve a
bigger celebration. Veldhuisen didn’t regard
the beauty pageant as being out of the ordin
ary.
"Since it was a girls’ dorm it sounded like a
fun thing to do."
