University readies beds, food

The snow brought more than white flakes to
those involved in registering University students
The snow also brought slick roads and sloppy
weather, causing some problems in staffing
McArthur Court for the two-day winter term
registration
In order to ensure registration would contin
ue through Tuesday and that University staff
would nof be required to travel in dangerous
weather conditions, Muriel Jackson, the pre
sident's administrative assistant, put a "contin
gency plan" into effect in case of more snow
"If there are difficulties," Jackson said we
have lined up 100 sleeping spaces in the dorms
and 30 spaces in the student health center
"It's mostly a here's a blanket, there's a
chair arrangement," she added
There also were arrangements for feeding
employees both dinner Monday night and break
fast Tuesday morning, if the need arose. Jackson
said
"If we were to get a dump like last night,
before this evening, we ll enact the plan," she
said Monday
"There is also a clause in the classified staff
contracts about dangerous weather conditions so
that we may excuse employees early with pay,"
Jackson said
Jackson confirmed late Monday afternoon
that the plan probably wouldn't happen "
