State student lobby hires
new legislative assistant

States Student Association
was hired as legislative
assistant by the Oregon
Student Lobby last week.
Eduardo Wolle. 27, was
selected from 104 ap
plicants to replace John
Moore, now ASUO ex
ecutive coordinator, says

His first priority is find
ing out what the lobby’s
goals are. Wolle says,
although his main concern
is the higher education
budget.
“He will have to deal
with trying to get us more
funding or making sure we
don't get any more taken
away." Wilkins says, add

directly affect students will
be targeted by the lobby.
The financial situation of
Oregon's higher education
system is “de)a vu“ to him.
Wolle says, since Vermont
already has made substan
tial cuts in higher educa
tion funding
Elimination of program
duplication and raising tui
tion costs were goals of
budget-cutters in Vermont,
and the “total effect isn’t
over there," Wolle says.
"He has good research
abilities," Wilkins says of
Wolle, who was an unsuc
cessful 1978 candidate for
the Maryland legislature
Wolle has “nationwide
contacts" and knows "peo
ple that are doing in
teresting things all over the
