Finally the reporter thought he had located a true
Duck fan, a supporter who had nothing but nice things
to say about the struggling Oregon program
"I think they're the greatest." said Goldie Taylor,
an enthusiatic tan in her late 40s
"I'm not worrying about them," she said of the
Ducks as the Huskies had the ball and a final minute to
kill before victory
"(Rich) Brooks is a good coach I know that! I only
got to see my Duckies play once last year, and this is
the first time this season, but I love 'em They just had
a bad day today I’ve seen them, though, when they
looked like the Superbowl champs "
Which game did she see last year’’
"The Washington disaster "
And the Washinton game this year also, observed
the reporter
"The Oregon disaster," she sang, flashing a
purple-and-gold Washington sweater and skipping
happily into the Huskies cheering section
And the search goes on

Vikings whip
Duck netters
in three games
The Oregon volleyball team
was upended by powerful Port
land State University 6-15, 6-15,
12-15, Tuesday at McArthur
Court
Oregon, with frontliners Ka
ren Beamer and Ronda Dalth
rop sidelined by injuries,
couldn't keep up with the
talented Vikings
"We played pretty well, con
sidering we were without
Beamer and Dalthrop," said
coach Chris Voelz. "PSU is a
really strong team and the
match was much closer than the
score indicated."
Voelz was right. The Ducks
played tough every game, but
lacked the personnel to keep up
with the Vikings The two teams
traded serve during the entire
match, but Oregon didn't follow
up its opportunities, while PSU
did
The Ducks, 7-19-2 for the
season, will have a week to heal
before taking on the University
of Montana Oct 15 in Missoula
