John Kaiser and Nancy Whitley tace first-degree arson
charges and up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 if
convicted
According to witnesses, Kaiser rushed to the stage where
Tomseth was speaking and threw a burning swath of yellow
cloth on the stage
The cloth allegedly was lit by Whitley Whitley faces an
additional charge of fourth-degree assault for allegedly
attacking a Eugene Police Officer as he took Kaiser into
custody
Judge George Woodrich is presiding over the jury trial
being held at Lane County Circuit Court
Dance to replenish

The Eugene Swichboard, an
information and referral agency
near the downtown mall, is
sponsoring a "Celebration of
the 50s" dance Friday night at
the WOW Hall, at 8th Avenue
and Lincoln Street
The 9 p m dance will be a
fund-raising event for the
agency, whose new executive
director, Steve Bekofsky. says
his organization is facing finan
cial difficulties and will use
"creative" means to raise
funds
Bekofsky, who started in his
position Thursday, is a former
free-lance cross-cultural con
sultant to Native Americans in
Canada
"I wanted to get involved in
my own community," says Be
kovsky explaining why he took
the job
