programs honored
Both the doctoral program
and the master’s degree pro
gram of the University's health
education department have
been ranked among the top
programs nationally, according
to a recent study conducted at
the University of Illinois, Cham
paign-Urbana
The doctoral program was
ranked fourth and the master's
program second The nation
wide survey included the re
sponses of 245 health educa
tion department heads and
faculty members from among
the 40 doctoral programs and
126 master's degree programs
in health education in the United
States
Oregon currently offers the
only health education doctor
ate in Oregon, according to

grams. in order, are at the
University of Illinois, Cham
paign-Urbana; Southern Illinois
University; Ohio State Universi
ty; Oregon; and the University of
Toledo The top five master's
degree programs, in order, are

State University, and Southern
Illinois University
The doctoral program in phy
sical education was recently
ranked fifth in the nation among
the 98 colleges and universities
offering doctoral degrees in
physical education And the
recreation and park man
agement program was ranked
ninth nationally among the ap
proximately 500 schools award
ing degrees in recreation and
park management

Two students in the Depart
ment of Germanic Languages
and Literature and one student
in the Comparative Literature
Program at the University have
received teaching appoint
ments in West Germany
The three students, all former
graduate teaching fellows in
German at the University,
received the appointments from
the German Pedagogical Ex
change Service and will teach
English for one year during
1981-82 in German secondary
schools
Sarah Mangan, a doctoral
degree candidate in Germanic
languages and literature, was
awarded a teaching appoint
ment in a school in Rheinland
Pfalz
Dan Hamann, a master s de
gree candidate in Germanic
languages and literatures, has
been awarded a teaching ap
pointement in Ansbach, Bavar
ia.
Ruth Mills-Price. a doctoral
degree candidate in compara
tive literature, has received a
teaching appointment in a
school in Leverkusen-Rhein
