Council has announced ap
proximately 250 new full-time
fellowships for 1982 The
awards will enable Ph D scien
tists and engineers to research
problems in their fields of study
Awards are made for the year
with possible extensions
through a second year senior
applicants may request shorter
tenures Stipends range from
$24 000 a year for recent Ph D s
to approximately $50 000 a year
for Senior Associates Al
lowances are made for reloca
tion and limited professional
travel during tenure The host
federal laboratory provides the
Fellow with facilities necessary
equipment and support ser
vices
The awards will be awarded
on a competitive basis for re
search in chemistry engineer
ing mathematics and earth
sciences environmental phy
sical space and life sciences
The fellowships which began in
1954 have assisted more than
3.500 scientists who range from
recent Ph D recipients to dis
tinguished senior scientists
Applications to the Research
