A limited number of student
athletic tickets go on sale
Thursday and Friday, and ath
letic officials say it's best to
buy early
Although tickets no longer
are free, as they were last year,
all are half the general admis
sion price, and packages can
be purchased that make tick
ets even more economical
A $12 50 fall sports package
includes tickets to five varsity
football games — which cost
$2.50 individually — plus a
pass to volleyball games
The $38.50 winter sports
package includes tickets to 16
varsity basketball games (15
scheduled games plus the in
tersquad scrimmage), plus a
pass to wrestling, gynmastics
and women s basketball
By purchasing both pack
ages at once ($51). the student
receives a free $7 50 spring
sports package good for five
varsity track and field meets
Individual track and field tick
ets sell for $1 50
For students who purchase
individual tickets and later
decide to buy a package the
price of the individual tickets
will be subtracted from the
package price, according to
Jim Edmunson, ASUO vice
president in charge of pro
gram administration
Similarly, students who pur
chase tall or winter packages
separately still qualify for the
combination package when
the other ticket package is
purchased, he says Play-off
games and special events are
not included in the student
ticket package
As long as the supply lasts,
tickets also will be sold at the
door (or gate), but because of
seating limitations, only 6,000
football and 4.000 basketball
tickets are available. Edmun
son says
Although there should be
plenty of football tickets for
students who want them, there
may be a shortage of basket
ball tickets he says
“You gotta think ahead a
little bit "
ASUO officers say they are
hoping students purchase at
least S222.500 worth of tickets
— the amount the incidental
fee subsidy to the athletic
department declined this year
Because the ASUO is
depending more on ticket
sales, students will pay only
$12 per term in incidental fees
to the athletic department —
instead of the $17 paid per
